Indonesian state-owned electricity provider PLN says it plans to use hydrogen to power 41GW of electricity generation in order to reach its goal of net-zero emissions by 2060, according to the president of the board of directors at renewables-focused subsidiary PLN Indonesia Power.
Edwin Nugraha Putra said in a statement that hydrogen and its derivative, ammonia, will begin to be used as a substitute for fossil fuel in power plants between now and 2030.
